The Comet is Coming, The Vaselines and DJ Sarra Wild to take part in the 2019 event

Following on from the success of last year's Jupiter Campout, the Jupiter Artland Foundation will be bringing the outdoor festival back to the iconic sculpture park in the form of Jupiter Rising, with the first set of acts announced today.

Jupiter Rising will significantly expand on last year's offerings, with a weekend programme of cutting-edge music, art and performance from Fri 23–Sun 25 Aug. This year's acts include 2016 Mercury Prize nominees The Comet is Coming and indie legends The Vaselines, with Jupiter Rising's striking visual identity designed by Turner Prize nominee and Scottish artist, Jim Lambie. This will be launched online today as part of Jupiter Rising's artist-commission programme, which also includes the premiere of new work by Mary Hurrell as part of Edinburgh Art Festival

Sarra Wild from the Glasgow-based platform, club night and radio show OH141 will also be making her return in 2019 to curate the late-night stage in the woods, which follows on from her successful curation of last year's late-night dance tent. Further confirmed acts for 2019 include interdisciplinary artists Duncan Marquiss and Natasha Lall, who question the mainstream with their genre-defying work across film, performance, sound and text; and musicians Alpha Maid, ILL, Total Leatherette and Current Affairs, who will all bring an eclectic mix of punk, synthetic and experimental dance to this unique festival.

Jupiter Artland co-founder Nicky Wilson said: 'Jupiter Rising is the celebration of a landscape rich in artwork and experimental artists and performers. It's a perfect manifestation of the spirit of Jupiter. Dance, party and be challenged by original thought.'

Jupiter Rising evolved out of a partnership between Jupiter Artland and Edinburgh Art Festival bringing ROMANTI-CRASH! in 2018 and LUNARNOVA CAMPOUT in 2017. Stay tuned for more announcements.
