Lincoln Center Theater's multi-award winning and critically acclaimed production to run at the venues next spring
Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King And I musical has been on the global stage since it premiered in 1951. The musical is considered one of the greatest shows from the golden age of musicals and continues to sell-out shows both on Broadway and in the West End. In 2019 the award winning Lincoln Center Theater's production will take up residency in Manchester and Sunderland. Tickets for the shows go on sale at 10am on Fri 9 Nov.
Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical details the story of the developing relationship between the King of Siam and Anna, a British school teacher who is hired to teach the King's many wives and children. As the relationship grows its unconventional and tempestuous nature is revealed.
The show features over 50 performers who bring to life the superior score of songs including: 'Whistle a Happy Tune', 'Getting to Know You', and 'Shall We Dance'. Full casting details for the 2019 production are to be announced later in the year.
Due to phenomenal demand, The King And I recently extended its London run and will run at the new cities in 2019.
