David Peacock, Joe Brown, Paul Whitehouse, Matt Lucas and more take to the stage to honour the late musician
A concert to honour the life of musician Chas Hodges will go ahead at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Mon 17 Dec. Tickets for the show are available from 9am on Fri 19 Oct.
The singer, who was receiving treatment for oesophageal cancer, passed away earlier this year at the age of 74. Chas Hodges made up one half of iconic 'rockney' musical duo Chas & Dave. The pair were loved for their distinctively funny cockney influenced rock'n'roll style.
Hoges and bandmate Dave Peacock found mainstream success after breakthrough single 'Gertcha' peaked at No.20 in 1979. The duo are perhaps most known for their prominence in the 80s when singles 'Rabbit' and 'Ain't No Pleasing You' came out. Throughout their career Chas & Dave released nine albums that charted in the UK. After an 18-year studio sabbatical the pair released record That's What Happens in October 2013.
The lineup for the In Memory of Chas Hodges concert consists of Dave Peacock, entertainer Joe Brown, comedian Paul Whitehouse, comedian Matt Lucas, jazz guitarist Martin Taylor, singer-songwriter Ralph McTell, Ed Tudor Pole and Jackie Lynton, with more to be announced.
The show promises to be a unique night of remembrance and celebration with proceeds going to Chas's favourite charity Water Aid.
