What to see at Gilded Balloon's Basement Theatre this autumn and winter

A feast of entertainment is heading to the New Town venue

The tourists have now departed from Edinburgh and the show posters have been unceremoniously torn down, but the fun lingers on. This autumn and winter, Gilded Balloon has a full programme of comedy, music and theatre to light up the shortening days. Here's what lies ahead.

Scott Gibson: Battlefield
The former Comedy Award Best Newcomer presents an evening of new material with support from some famous faces. Thu 20 Sep, Thu 18 Oct & Thu 22 Nov, 8pm.

The Comedy Show
Fringe favourites return to the stage every weekend. Featuring Chris Forbes, Katie Mulgrew, Michael Redmond, Morgan Rees, Sarah Callaghan, Fern Brady, Mark Nelson and many more. Fridays 21 Sep–28 Dec, 8pm & Saturdays 22 Sep–29 Dec, 9pm.

Short Attention Span
Monthly theatre evening featuring half a dozen brand new plays, conceived, written and rehearsed over the previous few weeks. Wed 26 Sep, Wed 24 Oct & Wed 28 Nov, 8pm.

Jay Lafferty: Besoms
A monthly evening of comedy featuring under-represented groups (plus 'at least one boy on the bill'). Thu 27 Sep, Thu 25 Oct, Thu 29 Nov & Thu 27 Dec, 8pm.

Sixties on a Sunday
Drink, dance and sing along to the music of Fayne and the Cruisers. Featuring the songs of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Searchers, The Drifters, The Beach Boys and others. Sun 30 Sep, Sun 21 Oct, Sun 18 Nov & Sun 30 Dec, 2pm.

New Sh*t

The comedian, writer and broadcaster hosts his critically acclaimed podcast which has previously featured the likes of Sharon Horgan, Dara O'Briain, Chris O'Dowd and Dylan Moran. Sat 27 Oct, 7.15pm.

Rob Kemp: Elvis Dead
Fresh from his Fringe run, see what Evil Dead II sounds like reinterpreted through the songs of Elvis Presley. Sat 3 Nov, 7.15pm.

Ray Bradshaw: Deaf Comedy Fam
Bradshaw explores what it's like to grow up with two deaf parents, while signing in BSL. Sat 17 Nov, 7.15pm.
