Darnell was jailed last night after he admitted nominating Rex. After the former Head of the 'Big Brother' House discovered he was facing eviction alongside Rebecca and Mohamed, he decided to tell chef Rex he had nominated him last week.
Angry that he was up for eviction when some contestants seemed desperate to go home, Darnell explained he thought he was "doing Rex a favour" by nominating him because the chef has continually said he wants to leave.
As soon as he made the confession, Rex laughed: "Oh you idiot! I told you not to say that."
Darnell said: "I thought I was doing you a favour. That's why I did it - because he told me he wanted me to! I took him seriously. I just told him I was sorry before I leave."
Although Darnell initially accepted his prison term graciously, he quickly began to grumble about it when he realised he would not be able to take part in the shopping task.
He said: "This sucks! That task was fun. This was my only chance to show the public that I'm better than some of these fools - most of these fools. Why'd they have to do it today?"
Earlier, Darnell admitted he was unhappy he was up for eviction.
He said: "If I win, I still lose and if Mo wins, he still loses because we're friends."
Even if he survives the public vote Darnell claimed he would not be comforted because he now knows some people in the house he classes as friends don't like him.
He said: "It's apparent now people don't like me as much as I thought they did."
