Edinburgh's Christmas at the Botanics returns for 2020

Enjoy a magical evening of awe-inspiring visuals at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh this festive season

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh have confirmed Christmas at the Botanics will run from Thu 26 Nov 2020–Thu 3 Jan 2021 this year. Entrance is permitted in 15-minute intervals from 4pm–8pm (days vary) from the garden's east and west gates. Tickets for Christmas at the Botanics are available now.

Returning for its fourth installment, the spectacular illumination event will transform the prestigious Botanics into a bright and festive trail festooned with lights and soundtracked by Christmas classics. The flora, fauna and historic buildings provide the perfect backdrop for awe-inspiring visual effects that bring new life to the gardens after dark.

Over one million twinkling lights will illuminate the grounds this year, and a host of new displays offer fresh experiences for visitors. New displays for 2020 include the illuminated sculptures, tumbling lights and fizzing fireworks. Visitor favourites such as the towering Tunnel of Light, Laser Garden and Scented Fire Garden return for another year. Seasonal hot drinks will be available to ensure that warm fuzzy festive feeling is not missed.

In-light of COVID-19, safety measures including reduced capacity, entrance from two gates, a revised trail route to manage visitor flow, additional cleaning, hand sanitisation stations and contactless payments will be in operation to help protect visitors. Christmas at the Botanics is also operating a full refund or exchange policy.

Christmas at the Botanics

A one mile illuminated trail that winds its way through the garden. Wander beneath the tree canopies bathed in seasonal colour, enjoy the sounds of the Choir of the Trees and keep an eye out for Santa and his elves. There's spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate to warm you up.
