Five queens from season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race, including America's next drag superstar, tour the UK this August.
The glitter has only just settled on the TV finale of RuPaul's Drag Race season 10 and already five of the queens are packing their wigs back into their suitcases and heading for the UK.
The new show, 10's Across The Board, features professional seamstress Yuhua Hamasaki, who was sent home by Mayhem Miller after the dating app challenge in episode three, and New York queen and drag daughter of Bob the Drag Queen, Miz Cracker, who will bring some quirky comedy to proceedings. Also on the bill are two of the final four: this season's lip sync assassin Kameron Michaels and pageant queen Asia O'Hara, who won Miss Gay America in 2016. The tour is completed by the self-styled 'bitch from New York city' and winner of season 10, Aquaria.
Aquaria, who was just 21 during the series, describes 10's Across The Board as 'a fierce show that has a theatrical element to it. High energy, high fashion and tons of dancing'. Expect to hear her new single 'Burn Rubber' and her favourite song to perform: 'Lady Gaga's cover of "New York, New York".' The tour starts in Brighton on Mon 6 Aug before visiting Birmingham (Wed 8 Aug), London (Thu 9 Aug), Dublin (Fri 10 Aug), Manchester (Sat 11 Aug) and finally Glasgow (Sun 12 Aug).
Fans will expect some sickening looks from America's next drag superstar, who studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and takes inspiration from fashion runaways and the spectacle brought to drag by club kids. Aquaria says: 'I like doing things that make an impact. The representation that I always go back to is a pop star – whether it's Lady Gaga or Madonna I love the way those women in pop music have always made an effort to create a specific vision.'
The tour is hosted by cabaret artist and Drag Idol UK Winner 2015 Danny Beard and Irish drag queen Victoria Secret. Each show also features pre-show entertainment from local talent. Aquaria says: 'The drag scene in the UK is super fierce! I love traveling and seeing the different styles of drag around the world and the scene in the UK is full of so much vibrancy and talent that it's impossible not to love these queens.'
Having recently bagged 12 Emmy nominations and been confirmed for an 11th season, Ru Paul's Drag Race shows no sign of sashaying away. However rumours and teases are still rife about a UK version of the show being a reality. Aquaria says: 'The UK fans are definitely very passionate about their drag queens and have always been so lovely and welcoming and supportive. I think Drag Race is such a special platform and it would be wonderful for drag queens all across the globe to share in the success of the original.'
10's Across the Board, Theatre Royal, Brighton, Mon 6 Aug then touring, £30 (£70 with meet and greet).
