Lauryn Hill has announced a run of UK and Ireland tour dates to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her astonishing debut album. Presale tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Thu 24 May. Tickets for the tour go on general sale at 9am on Fri 25 May.
Released in August 1998, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was the singer's first solo release following her rise to prominence as a member of the Fugees. Boosted by the success of singles 'Doo Wop (That Thing)', 'Ex-Factor' and 'Everything is Everything', it troubled the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and has, in total, sold nearly 20 million copies since its release.
The tour kicks off at Glasgow's SSE Hydro on Fri 23 November, taking in Manchester and Birmingham Arena, Dublin's 3 Arena, and finishing at London's O2 Arena on Mon 3 December.
Hill says: 'This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I loved and believed deeply in my community's ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement.
'Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm.'
