Country music sensations will be joined by Newton Faulkner, Catherine McGrath and Andy Brown
Edinburgh Summer Sessions has announced that the massive country music duo The Shires will headline at Princes Street Gardens on Sat 11 Aug. Presale tickets for the show at the Ross Bandstand go on sale at 10am on Thu 10 May, with tickets on general sale at 10am on Fri 11 May.
Consisting of Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes, the English duo have made their mark on the world of country music, getting recognition in the genre's spiritual home of Nashville, Tennessee and also breaking records in the UK.
The band's second album, My Universe, was released in 2016 and became the fastest-selling UK country album of all time. In 2017 they became the first UK act to win a prestigious Country Music Association award. The Shires' third full-length Accidentally On Purpose (which features an Ed Sheeran co-write) arrived to much acclaim in April of this year.
Joining the band at the Summer Sessions show is Newton Faulkner, the folk rocker who's enjoyed a stint in the Green Day musical American Idiot, plus Catherine McGrath and Andy Brown.
