Tom Holland "tried" to get the full script for 'Avengers: Infinity War' but "gave up".

The 21-year-old actor - who has spilled Marvel's secrets in the past - hoped he could get his hands on the full script for the upcoming movie, in which he reprises his role as Spider‑Man, but was ultimately unsuccessful.

He said: "I tried for about five minutes to get the script and just gave up. I just had a feeling that I was never going to win."

However, his co-star Benedict Cumberbatch - who plays Doctor Strange in the Marvel movies - did take a look at the full script to "understand what the context was".

During a joint interview on Good Morning America, Cumberbatch added: "I had to sort of understand what the context was. Doctor Strange has this wonderful role in it and I'm trying to pull the multi-verse together, so I kind of need to know what happens in between those brackets."

Meanwhile, Tom previously revealed directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo wouldn't let him read the whole script so he wasn't even sure which character he was shooting his scenes with.

He explained: "I wasn't allowed to read the script because I have a tendency to tell people what's in it, so I have no idea what's going on or what the film is about. Most of time I was acting a scene with a tennis ball and when I asked who it was supposed to be they wouldn't tell me so I started ringing round cast members and doing my own research to try and work it out! ... I loved 'Spider-Man' when I was a kid and watched the movies so to be in them now is surreal and a bit of a whirlwind."

Thanos (Brolin) aims to become all-powerful, in the first part of this two-part superhero mash-up. Death, destruction, torture and sacrifice are the order of the day, in a grand space opera that mixes tragedy with pathos, fleshed out with the usual Marvel humour. Truly remarkable.
