The Fotheringham Gallery
Established by sisters Claire and Leigh Fotheringham in 1997, this gallery is a step above what you'll typically find in rural Scottish towns. Its collections are more interesting than many commercial galleries found in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Leigh's hand-made jewellery of elegantly drooping silver and striking gemstones - some laden with four-figure price tags, others more affordable - are a highlight. The gallery also sells work by dozens of other successful Scottish artists, including ceramics, metalwork and textiles. The exhaustive website is worth consulting for those serious about buying.
