Aecc

On an expansive, accessible site in Europe’s energy capital, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre boasts a facility network and service infrastructure worthy of a 21st Century venue in a 21st Century city.

At Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) we believe that it is the people who make the event memorable!

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) was established as a Limited Liability Company in 1985, when the Centre at the Bridge of Don first opened.

The Centre was built primarily as a permanent venue to house Offshore Europe. Following the 1997 Local Government re-organisation, Aberdeen City Council became the 100% shareholder/owner.

In April 2003 the Centre itself was redeveloped extensively, which substantially increased the Centre’s capacity and flexibility. In 2009/10 AECC contributed an economic benefit of £114 million to the local economy.

The range of events the venue can accommodate are:

Conferences: Association, Corporate, Governmental at local, national and international levels (accommodating from two to 2,000 delegates)
Exhibitions: Trade and consumer
Concerts, Comedy and Ice shows (up to 8,500 standing)
Live Sporting events: Snooker, boxing, wrestling and darts
Banqueting: Dinner dances, charity balls, award dinners
Meetings and training seminars
Other events, eg skid car training using AECC car parks

Whilst the Centre’s primary product is the renting of space (indoor halls, suites, rooms, outdoor space), our special selling point focuses on the quality of the service our staff deliver to our many and varied clients. This is borne by client feedback and through the AIPC APEX awards for the World’s Best Congress Centre, (judged in terms of service quality) where we achieved 12th place in 2010, out of 160 top venues from around the world.

The Centre has developed a range of support services which have contributed to the way in which we serve our clients needs and achieve the high satisfaction ratings including in-house catering, AV and IT services, exhibition and stand build services and event management.

Testament to the quality of these services, we see more and more clients choosing to use our services (as above) than those of outside specialist contractors. As our current marketing campaign says, “It’s always the people who make the Venue”. This is also positively reflected in our own after event survey (SurveyMonkey) where 97% of respondents agree that any member of staff they encountered throughout the day of their event was ‘happy to help’ and 100% would both use the centre again and recommend it to a friend or colleague.
