The latest and best restaurant in the rejuvenated Spitalfields Market at the edge of the City, Le Bouchon Breton is a grand gesture toward the charms of Parisian dining with over 200 covers and a menu of classic dishes to make any Francophile shed a happy tear. Both the restaurant and the champagne bar are favourites in this increasingly hip part of London.
Taking its inspiration from great Parisian brasseries like Le Coupole and Lipp, Le Bouchon Breton serves everything from simple breakfasts and set lunches to full blow-out suppers. The cavernous dining room seems a little funereal until, together with the champagne bar, it begins to fill with crowds from the City and nearby Shoreditch.
The hip bars in the neighbourhood draw the younger crowd away, leaving this as a welcoming, civilised place for a more mature and affluent crowd to dine. Add to this the professional service and it becomes a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
