This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.
Goodness, in a word. Created with care and calculation (every nutritional detail is shown on the menu) by real chefs, Martha’s moreish menu proves to the as-yet unconverted that healthy can mean hearty. The menu is seasonal but may include everything from traditional favourites like mince and tatties or Ramsay’s Red Dragon free-range pork with sesame, chilli, ginger and spring onion to take-away standards with a twist like salads and sandwiches made with focaccia baked on the premises or flatbread (tastier than tortilla wraps). Locally-sourced fish, meat, vegetables and dairy are used where possible and everything from the soups to the devilish chocolate pots make the customer feel spoiled. A real steal is the mini spicy soba salad at just £1.30 to take away.
- High point: A breath of fresh air
- Low point: There isn't one on every corner (yet)
