A wee wine bar that's an art gallery or the other way round? A wine shop with some nice leather armchairs to enjoy a sample glass? Or an intimate music venue (live jazz from Hafter Medboe and Jessie Bates every Wednesday) selling craft beers? Take your pick, don't invite the whole office (it's busy with a dozen folk inside) and embrace the fact that in New Town Edinburgh, civilised drinkies is normal behaviour.
Reviews of Drinkies Wine Bar (39 Queen Street, Edinburgh)

Drinkies Wine BarReport -
A quirky little bar on Queen Street - we were at a good function downstairs here a few months ago - so thought we'd try it for a Saturday night post-dinner drink.
Surroundings are pretty cool (like a nice quirky lounge) but the unsmiling personality free barman was unable to serve a glass of fizz of ANY type as they 'only do bottles'. Wine by the glass seemed far too much of an effort too. Sorry.
The music on offer would be great if it were jazz/lounge/chill out but for a place clearly aimed at the 30+ and 40+ market, we were 'treated' to the ambience ruining thump of R and B singer Rihanna. Dear oh dear.
For a place called 'Drinkies', trying to buy a 'drinky' by the glass seems a bridge too far for them.
We will not be back as there are many places in Edinburgh where you can buy a drink from a smiling bar person - and where great music matches the decor.
