This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.
Hopetoun House is one of the country's grandest stately homes, so even a visit to the stables – designed by William Adam for a dozen prize hunters – is no hardship. In the large, flag-stoned room you'll find linen-covered tables and the chance to embrace the highlife with afternoon teas (with or without champagne). The classy café theme is continued with smoked salmon platters, a tartlet of the day and Fairtrade tea and coffee. The café uses meat from the estate and other local produce that's also showcased at the thriving Hopetoun Farm Shop and Butchery, located elsewhere on the Hopetoun estate, just off the A904 near Newton – though it's worth noting that the new shop doesn't have a café attached.
