Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2012 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the current (2012) edition.

The takeaway arm of London Road’s Thai Pad, the same kitchen and chefs are responsible for a menu with mains helpfully broken down into Thailand’s culinary regions. Mixed starters are very generous in quantity, and include a beautifully flavoured, if slightly greasy, fish cake, very messy ribs and impressively moist chicken satay. Moo yang is a speciality: marinated pork in a dark, sweet sauce, it’s rich and could be wonderful with less fatty meat. The list of stir fries is long and well explained, and fish dishes are very reasonably priced. Online ordering is efficient, and delivery is generally within the hour.

  • High point: Lovely homemade satay sauce, with no hint of peanut butter
  • Low point: Food arrives just about hot enough

I've been ordering from this take-away since it was spicebox. The food here for a take-away is simply EXCEPTIONAL. I have been to Thailand 3 times and for food to taste like this and me not to be sat on a beach with a bucket of booze next to me was surreal at first but then became the highlight of my week.
I have a lot a late deliveries from this place in the past and on 1 particular night it was nearly 2 hours!! I spoke to the owner and he explained why it was so long. Everything is freshly made to order and they have a restaurant at the site too. He suggested that if I ordered any other day aside from a Friday or Saturday he could guarantee a better service. I was annoyed, but tried his advice and have not had a late delivery since. The food is still amazing and I get my food within an hour!!!!

Do not rely on this place to deliver your food on time. My food arrived one and a half hours late - despite complaints. The manager just said his restaurant was very busy and tried to blame the ordering system.
