Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2012 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

The North Point rests at a quiet end of Market Street, just a few short steps from St Andrews picturesque cathedral ruins, and shouldered on either side by centuries-old stone houses. The menu offers a litany of diverse morning and midday options, ranging from the ever-popular breakfast burrito to homemade porridge, pancakes, toasted bagels, soups and griddle melts. Lunch and breakfast alike are bustling, with the clean, airy space quick to fill with chatting diners. Queues are known to build as the tables are often full, but the hearty food is worth the wait. Local suppliers are used wherever possible, and with one or two minor exceptions, the cafe does all of its own baking on site. The scones alone are worth arriving early for – the options change daily and you might find nutella-banana on one visit and plum-vanilla the next. Regardless of variety, they’re often sold out by lunchtime.
