The 2012 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the 2011 edition.
Owned by Ida Scarano nee Crolla, of the Leith Walk dining dynasty who run Vittoria’s next door and La Favorita down the road, it almost goes without saying that Eatalia’s is a dependable local takeaway joint. The menu was refreshed in March 2011 and features all the ingredients of a versatile fish and chip shop, including an extensive line in deep-fried foods (puddings, spring rolls, sausages, chicken pakora, kiev, halved or quartered) topped off with a battered haddock that’s full and flavoursome, if ever so slightly greasy. Almost fifty pizzas (the speciality Eatalia’s comes with rocket leaves, gorgonzola and parma ham; the bases are thin and crispy) and pastas are complemented by the likes of chicken wings, cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers and a special mozzarella-topped bruschetta that has apparently featured on the BBC’s Take On the Takeaway.
