This review is taken from the 2011 edition.
Opened in late 2010, Eati Boutiquie has grown out of co-owners Rachel Suttle and Emma Paris’s pop-up vintage shop and wholesale cupcakes and bespoke catering business Made With Love Finnieston. Part deli-café, part retro style and hand-crafted goods emporium, it’s a button-cute little place where smiling, chatty service comes as standard. Space is at a premium and a ring of comfy armchairs in the window and a few high stools is the best you’ll do for a seat, though a row of snug booths are in the planning. The food varies day to day, subject to whatever seasonal local produce they’ve sourced, but you can always expect simple standards done with imagination and flair, such as chicken, leek and tarragon pie, tomato and basil tart, aubergine and chickpea salad, daily special sandwiches, soup, hot-pot and their self-styled ‘amazing’ macaroni. Eati Boutiquie’s bread comes from local artisan supplier the Bavarian Bakehouse, while fresh cakes are all home-made. The goal is to roll out opening hours in summers and create a late-night café vibe for whiling away the warm evenings with hot food and BYOB.
- High point: Great service
- Low point: Hot food licence still pending
