Firmly established as St Andrews’ best-regarded Asian restaurant, the Balaka has been around for nearly 30 years under the proprietorship of Mohammed Abdur Rouf. Classic Indian starters and curries are served, but pride of place is reserved for Bengali specialities, including Mas Bangla using marinated salmon in place of the traditional rohi fish. Balaka has a lovely garden, used for functions but also growing fresh herbs for the kitchen.
