Bellini is a lovely little pocket of Italy in the heart of Shawlands. Almost all the staff are Italian and, beef aside, all produce is from Italy, and with no freezer on the premises, everything is fresh. Thanks to this the restaurant has a faithful clientele in a demanding market, attracted to this cosy wee place, twinkling with fairy lights, reflecting off the wine bottles on the walls. The menu isn't huge but it works (and an early evening option is great value at £9.95 for two courses) – prawns and smoked salmon to start are nicely presented. For mains the pizzas are thin and crispy and there is a good pasta selection. Go for the steak, though, and you won't be disappointed – the Bellini sauce is so creamy you may want to lick the plate clean. Desserts are traditional Italian – the pasteria Napoletana with warm ricotta cheese and candied fruit being light and fragrant. Finish with a shot of limoncello to complete the experience nicely.
- High point: Lovely atmosphere
- Low point: Could do with more desserts on menu

Well, yet again another really nice meal. I am not one for going through what we all had to eat, but Pizza was GOOOOD, it was all nice. Ate last night (28.05) party of four, nice wine and nice food and really nice time. Again the Lemocello went down well. Oh and La Bistecca...mmmmmm

I have been to a few restaurants in Shawlands, but I recently visited Bellini. At first I thought the place was nice, until the waiters came over. They were quite rude, grumpy and very keen to take your plates away the second you finish, without caring whether you enjoyed your meal or not. They did not like the fact I wanted tap water, and did not want to spend more money on mineral water. The food itself was your typical Italian, not the best I've ever had. They have a evening dinner menu, which offers two courses for £9.95. Although, they don't mention that there is an extra charge for some of the dishes. When the bill came, there was another extra charge which we were not informed about, so it added up to more than we expected. Overall, I would definetly not go back, and I especially think the workers need to learn manners.
