Royal High School

I saw the show on the first night - I was extremely surprised at how professional and committed this production was. You are always wary of attending a school production but I have to say this show was as good if not better than some professional West End productions I have seen. Some of the performances (especially the two leads, Kat Croan and Kenneth Brown) are note perfect and destined for careers in musical theatre. There are also no cringy 'stage school' type acting stereotypes and the American accents (always a bug bear) were very excellent! Chantelle Hoyle (as Motormouth Maybelle) definitely deserves a mention - especially as she is only 14 yrs old but has an amazing soul voice definitely one to watch out for. In all, all the performers were extremely good as were the vibrant costumes and lighting. An extremely enjoyable night out!
