The 2011/12 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
This review is taken from the current (2011) edition.
Climbing a flight of stairs and through the small unassuming doors, shabby chic awaits with a long dark wooden table dominating the whole space and small dark wooden booths lining both side walls where 1970s wallpaper is ripped and peeling off – all part of the look and their ethos of 'no frills no fuss' – which sums up the whole experience perfectly. Service by the young team is upbeat if not a little inexperienced while the food has its ups and downs – crisp spicy haggis balls are tasty though accompanied with an unassuming whisky milk, while the garlic bread bruschetta topped with roasted peppers and feta is full of Mediterranean flavours and a good starter option. The casserole special changes weekly and could be beef and tarragon, which is abundant in meat but lacking in the deep flavours. The best dining bet is the home-made burger – thick, juicy and char-grilled – served with the most delicious coleslaw and chunky wedges that taste better with every bite.

Visited Lucky 7 for lunch on two occasions. Unfortunately, we will not be back. Service is far too slow, and for a city centre establishment surrounded by businesses this is simply not good enough.
Surely with so much competition around they have to target getting people fed within 25 minutes of entering. It is lunch time and people only have limited time. As the menu only has a small number of options this should not be difficult.
We waited more than half an hour for fish & chips and a burger and may have been longer had we not had a word. There were plenty of staff hanging around not doing much and only a few tables were occupied. It was similar on our previous visit but we decided to give it another try due to convenience of location.
Overall, the food was good value and if you have time to kill there are worse places to visit. Surroundings are also very quirky and retro.

Have heard only good things about this place so decided to take a friend who was visiting Glasgow. It was very disappointing and I won't be returning.
Prosecco arrived warm with filthy glasses. These were sent back and it all arrived again this time with the bottle in an ice bucket. Burger arrived and my friend asked for mustard - "We've been waiting for a delivery of mustard for a week and a half" we were told. Really how clueless and careless do you have to be not to pop to the other side of the block and get some mustard if you are waiting for an unreliable supplier? Burger then turned out to be tough as a hockey puck and old as the hills. The salmon was ok and the peas were great but peas alone won't make me go back for rubbish food and reactionary service.

Ate here with a group of friends and was looking forward to it having read previous reviews. However, I was sadly disappointed. Our orders were slow in being taken and when the started arrived they were rather tasteless. I had chicken terrine which honestly I could not have identified if I were blindfolded and the onion chutney was watery tinned tomatoes. When asked how the dish was I said to the waiter sadly it was tasteless. Instead of an apology I was met with raised eyebrows and an "oh". Mains came later, a burger so dry my friend couldn't finish it and another friend who had the thai veg curry said it was the worst she had ever had. In short, I'd rather pay more elsewhere for tasty food and good service.
