Six years of taking it easy at Go Slow Café (to paraphrase the blurb), but the place is thriving and popular, so it’s no mean feat that during the busiest times owner/factotum Rose manages to keep the happy, calm vibe alive. Like most places run with passion, the atmosphere is one of at-home cosiness: tables and chairs are quirkily mismatched and everything from the budget décor to the booking-essential theme nights exudes an air of Bohemia. The menu is a mix of the standard: all-day breakfast (rolls, toast, croissants, bagels), panini, toasties, soup, burgers and the like; and then the surprises: exceptional home-made bread, rather perfect sweet chilli quesadillas served with a beautifully dressed and generous side-salad and a left-field 'lasagne' daily special that manages to convince taste-wise despite lacking previously assumed essentials like square sheets of pasta and cheese. Tip: expect the unexpected, relax about it and enjoy.
- High point: Leave your cynic’s hat at the door
- Low point: Can be a squeeze at peak periods

It’s been a while since I’d eaten here but I popped in this afternoon and was delighted with the experience. The owner made me genuinely feel welcome.
I ordered a veggie burger with mozzarella. I was offered a jug of cold water (which on the hottest day of the year so far was very welcome). The food arrived promptly and I can honestly say it was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had in ages. It was accompanied with an excellent fresh salad and a small pot of humus. After finishing my food I sat in the comfortable surrounds reading the paper with no pressure to rush out the door.
One other thing worth mentioning about this place was the fantastic selection of line drawings, paintings and pictures taken by local artists displayed on the cafe wall. I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the Vicky Rd area.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Glasgow! The coffee is lovely, the food is delicious (homemade soups and stews), the decor is great, miles away from the sterlie boring and unimaginative IKEA inspired nonsense that's found everywere else. Definitely worth a visit you wont be disappointed!!!!!

hey all! go slow rose here, saw the wee postin about the burgers. normal veggie burger makers were out of action for a couple of days about a month or so ago so we suplemented with non home-made quorn brand burgers which arent vegan and which we wouldn't sell as vegan and never have. the home-made vegan burgers and veggie burgers are happily back on the menu!!! Thanks to yaldi for their concerns about food quality, much appreciated!

I also live locally and go to Go Slow really regularly. The place has had a big refurb and is looking better than ever ( without the hard chairs). The food is excellent and the coffee is easily the best on Victoria Road. The staff are friendly, helpful and hard working.
I don't recognise the description given by Mack at all and i regularly recommend the place to friends. I have never had a bad experience.
The mountain burgers and cheesecake are particularly good but my friend claims the special fish stew which is available from time to time, is to die for !!And most importantly, great coffee !!!!!

Have to agree with littlefish. I have often found Go Slo to be both very friendly and have excellent food. Staff have always been pleasant, and work hard to create a chilled out atmosphere (which I feel you have mis-construed as being thoughtless or unattentive, or perhaps you just caught them on the wrong day). Go Slo was initially recommended to me, and I in turn have recommended it to many others and yours is the first negitive comment I think I can recall hearing. People have their 'off days' and unfortunately you were a customer that day. However, I can honestly say that Go Slo has always provided me with an excellent setting for forgetting about the everyday problems of life, and has always provided me with excellent snacks to accompy my thoughts! Keep up the good work!

well mack must have caught them on a bad day. I only live round the corner and I go there regularly for coffee and soup -its always fresh and good and hot. Recently tried the garlic mussels on special which I hadnt seen before-they were lovely! loads of sauce for dipping big chunks of lovely italian bread. The themed wine tasting is great-the size of the place is intimate and cosy with loads of tapas and bottles of lovely wine-its a nice place to learn about wine!

I had a terrible snack here. I ordered and was amazed when the girl and guy decided to go out for a fag. Nobody else was in the place and I waited for ages. I then received my houmous, pitta and olives. The houmous had huge lumps in it with no taste at all.The olives were so old they were growing wrinkles but the pitta was very nice.I ordered coffee at the same time and she totally forgot it. I eat the small salad(which was with the dish) and listened to what was a conversation of total swearwords between them for a good 10 minutes. The food was bad enough but to be ignored and forgotten about(when nobody else was there) was a joke. I can see where the Go Slow comes from. This place is chilled to the point of extinction.
