This review is taken from the 2010 edition.
Lazy Lohan’s displays a strong identity and a determined sense of purpose that belie its name and modest size. The Royal Mile bistro nails its colours to the mast in its mission statement, promising to maintain a commitment to healthy, sustainable food prepared using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Sceptics are directed to the long list of local suppliers at the front of the menu. The ‘Lazy’ of the title is an ironic reference to the ethos of the Slow Food movement, but there’s undoubtedly a laid-back feel to the restaurant, reinforced by the warm colour scheme and unobtrusive service. There are very reasonably priced breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, while the à la carte features regularly changing fish and slow-cooked meat options. These include a starter of crispy roast squash, leek and sage bean cakes complemented by a sweet lime and chilli sauce, while the main course of maple home-cooked ham has a lovely sweet and salty taste, offset by smooth mash and crunchy kale. Dishes are simply presented but the high quality cooking and plentiful choice encourage repeat visits.
- High point: Relaxed ambience and decent, honest food
- Low point: A bit of a squeeze at busy times

Lazy Lohan's BistroReport -
This is a really low key little bistro but serves amazing food and deserves to be really busy. I always mention it to people looking to eat out somewhere different and it never disapoints. The ingredients are all in season and great quality and I think the menu offers great value for money and the early-bird prices are amazing value. It is a very small, cosy resturaunt and the staff are really attentive and respectful and you can sit here enjoying drinks and coffees without feeling rushed. Definitely try it if you want a quiet night out with great food. It would also be an amazing place to hire out for a small function such as a family meal (if you have a huge family like mine).
