Formed in 2004, the Embassy Gallery, based at Broughton Street Lane, is artist-run and has strong links with Edinburgh College of Art. It has a year- round programme of exhibitions and events and exhibits off-site; one such example is the Broadcast Yourself series of screenings, which was organised in collaboration with Inverleith House. The gallery’s main event is the Annuale festival in June/July, a presentation of grassroots artistic activity in various venues throughout the city. The festival celebrates its independent roots, regarding itself as an alternative to the mainstream.
