Award-winning Ballencrieff are real pig farmers. Their Berkshire, Saddleback and Gloucester Old Spot sows run outside all year round, eating feed that is free of additives and growth promoters. They produce healthy pigs that grow slowly and naturally, and rarely need to see the vet. Home-cured bacon, pork and home-made sausages are the delicious results of this fastidious farming, and are available from Edinburgh and Haddington farmers markets, and their focused little farm shop, where they only sell what they produce.
