UKTV Local Food Hero, Fencebay Fisheries is a food chain in its own right. There is a farm shop selling a range of foods produced by local Ayrshire farmers, fishermen and country folk. Their smokehouse produces a number of smoked goods, and in addition to their own farmed rainbow trout, owners Jill and Bernard Thain smoke herring landed at Largs’ pier. While Fins Restaurant is no longer operating, on the last Sunday of every month, Fencebay plays host to an indoor farmer’s market with a revolving group of local suppliers taking space in the whitewashed cowshed.
