Listed in The Larder – in the shops now or buy online.
Scotland's oldest independent whisky bottler has been operating since 1842, bottling single cask whiskies and selling direct to the customer. It offers a huge range, from big brands such as Glenlivet, Glenmorangie and Laphroaig to the smaller Scottish distilleries. Each of Cadenhead's cask whiskies spends at least three years in the barrel, and all are non-chill-filtered and free of artificial colourings. There is a whisky here for all budgets – from £3 to the most expensive bottle in the world at £50,000.

I think 1842 was the last time the guy behind the counter smiled or welcomed someone into the shop. Shame, as the range of quality whiskies is very good.
