Hi, I feel compelled to write and tell you about Sublime Hair Design, Grassmarket , Edinburgh.
My daughter, 15 and an aspiring model, convinced me it would be ok to dye her already beautiful, lushious locks blonder using a shop bought hair dye that her friend recommended. Against my better judgement, I agreed and was even persuaded to administer the afore mentioned hair dye!
Picture the scene, my daughter’s almost waist length glossy hair was quickly turning orange! My daughter was so distressed. The mane of many photoshoots now resembled something of a bad joke shop wig! Dad was all shades of high blood pressure and I was the guilty “adult” for doing it .
I phoned Lesley (the owner) and he said to bring her straight away and he would have a look.
His horrified expression said it all !
My daughter thought it would just be a case of stripping it and then lightening it (I did too) but Lesley said No it would totally destroy her hair.
The only option to save her hair (her crowning glory) was to darken it or cut it short.
She was devastated. Lesley saw this and came up with a plan to go strawberry blonde (to incorporate the redness) and still allow her to be blonde.
It took hours of his time and he fitted her in between clients almost seamlessly.
The end result ?
Stunning strawberry blonde locks, glossy long healthy hair and one estatic teenager who claims to like her hair better now than it was before! And one relieved mum spared from the divorce courts !!Thanks Lesley
Your talent, patience and ever present sense of humour saved the day .

A great big thank you to Lesley and his team at Sublime Hair Design for making me look the best ever. I work far too hard to worry about my hair, and with Lesley by my side, I never need to worry as he always delivers the goods. Even when I put on weight he always makes me look and feel a millionaire, there simply isn't anyone who can compare when it comes to colour perfection. Lesley always listens so intently to my requirements, and takes his time to get the cut just right. I simply can't imagine my life (or hair) without Lesley. So much so that I simply had to make him guest of honour at my wedding, what a lucky bride having my stylist on hand throughout, pampering me with curls, and fixing me after the veil came off, I've never felt so special in my life.
I always look forward to our sessions together, and I can't wait to see what he creates for me for the Christmas parties!
Edinburgh is a better place for having such a creative and attentive stylist in its midst!

I don't think I even have the time to spend writing this review - but it's long over due so I shall. In June this year I went to Sublime for a cut and colour. Full head block colour blonde and a sharp (long) bob. All that needed to happen was colour, toner and a exact copy of my current cut.
I was sent away from the salon almost £90 out of pocket with orange roots and a terrible terrible messy horrible cut MUCH shorter than I has asked for as the hairdresser told me 'a bob must be shorter than your chin' to which I said OK, not a bob then as I don't want it that short.
After a tearful call to my best mate and glancing in windows on Victoria street I saw how messed my hair was - absolutely broken orange roots - and returned, expecting a refund, an apology and a plan to sort my hair safely.
Instead, Lesley plonked me in a chair no questions asked and re-coloured my hair resulting in clumps and clumps of hair breaking off at the point where the roots ended and leaving my head bleeding and sore - all the skin on my scalp scabbed and I had pussy sores and was in very real pain, and very very upset for weeks. Its fair to say I am now terrified of the hairdresser! I really got used to wearing that summer beanie.
My hair is now growing out but - it's no longer thick and healthy but I have a shelf of hair where it has completely broken off and fallen out.
The upshot of this has been an absolute abject fear of hairdressers and disgust at the way I was treated, I asked for a refund (for at least the colour) or explanation and Lesley (salon manager) said (direct quote) 'We can't give you a refund, as if we gave you a refund we would have to give everyone a refund'
Never give this salon your custom, there are many brilliant salons in Edinburgh, much better value where you will be treated humanely.

Excellent salon, lovely relaxed atmosphere. I've been twice now and will definitely be returning, both times I was very pleased with the service and the hair cut. Also delighted to discover that Tuesdays and Thursdays* if i remember correctly* are half price for students!

I have been in Edinburgh for the 5 years, and have visited many hair salons, not returning back for another appointment. A friend of mine recommended Leslie and Sublime, she had such a nice, neat cut, so, i decided to make an appointment. Loved the atmosphere, leslie made me laugh and did wonders to my hair! (I have curly mad hair and he managed to tame it.. ) I am now a regular! Will recommend the salon..
Go take a look, have a chat and I am sure you'll come out with a few appointments booked, feeling rather good about your hair and self!

I had my hair done at Sublime hair design, after hearing good things about the place. All I needed was a basic trim and fringe trim; no restyling at all. All in all he spent about 5 minutes cutting the ends off my hair before it was dried, and 5 mins trimming my fringe. As I booked that morning, I assumed that I would be charged the £25 standby price. However, I was outraged when I was told that the hair cut would cost a whopping £50 - the highest price stated on the price list and the most expensive haircut I have ever had! £50 is the price I would pay for a great haircut in London, not for a trim in Edinburgh.

Sublime indeed! I was in need of a new hairdresser and inspired by The List review I chose to book an appointment with Leslie. I'm just back from my first appointment and have already booked my next visit. The salon is relaxed and funky. Leslie is super. And I have beautiful hair. Hooray!

I saw the ad in the List and I've decided to see what Sublime Hair Design was like. I made my appointment, when I arrive the staff at the salon made me feel totally relaxed and welcome, I was offered a variety of refreshment which I had a freshly brewed cup of coffee with a piece of chocolate cake which was heaven. Lesley and I had an informal consultation before I was taken to have my hair shampooed at the most comfortable washbasin which has a massage chair amazing and the head massage oh my I can't explain except to say a must have experience. I then had my hair cut and styled by the most BRILLIANT artistically creative Lesley who is DEFINITELY a GEM of a find. Thank List you are so right .I'm one Happy Customer derfinitely top marks
