The 2012 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
Morningside Glory is the original venture in Edinburgh of the Glasgow-based G1 Group. Its clientele seem to be a mix of passers-by and locals popping in for a drink and a pew to watch the latest sporting fixtures. The furniture is a mix of leather sofas and comfy armchairs, alongside wooden tables and chairs, but choose carefully if you've come for a meal as some of the seating arrangements make it difficult to get on with the mechanics of eating. The menu of standard pub fare is served all day, every day, and any specials offered don't stray for from it. The mussel starter with white wine and garlic is good, and crustier bread would make it even better. The Aberdeen Angus burger is a safe bet, nicely cooked and with a generous helping of salad. But it is the Scotsman fish and chips that really stands out because of its quirky presentation in Morningside's favourite daily newspaper - plus tasty chips and a couple of pickled onions.

One of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten, rude barman and a very tired looking venue. Very poor quality wine also. Better to spend a little more and go to the Canny Mans, or to the Waiting Room or Bennets for a good value traditional pub experience.

Great place full of nice people. This is a great little local which has nice people both behind the bar & in front of it. There seems to be an Irish connection as all the staff seemed to be from Ireland. Food was okay, what you'd expect for pub food, better than most places round about.
Service was fast & friendly and got chatting to the boss who is very 'hands on', which is good to see these days. Would recommend it to anyone to visit, i'll definately be back.

Bad service, barman seems a bit cocky. Food nothing great and not worth the price! Would never eat here again

Would not go back! The barman is terrible, I heard he is also the owner! Bad service, food was nothing special and way over priced for what it is. Don't waste your time plenty of better places to eat and drink in the area.
