Something's Brewing: Scotland's finest real ales

Thanks to an explosion of micro brewers all over the country, Scotland is pushing back the boundaries of real ale innovation. Frank Park of the Scottish Real Ale Shop runs the rule over a selection of his favourite small breweries.

Just tried some of their Islay 'Single Malt' Ale which is absoluetly vile. Probably the worst ale i've tasted. I love single malts but this apparently comes from the pre-distilled 'wash'. No wonder it's distilled after, this stuff tastes like a motor-oil soaked carpet.

Give this a miss and go for something tasty but still local - to Edin - like Innis and Gunn.
