Orkney Isles Preserves

The selection of preserves – jams, marmalades, chutneys and a wonderful cider and honey wholegrain mustard – made from a converted 'bothy' on the island of Shapinsay, a short ferry journey out of Kirkwall harbour, means that a visit to Orkney can easily result in weighed down luggage on the way home. Hand-made using renewable energy from their own wind turbine, the selection is wide – summer fruits, chilli jam, whisky marmalade are a mere three examples – and the distinctive hexagonal jars all bear striking photos of the local scenery.
