Reviews of Border Berries (Rutherford Farm, Kelso)

The destination of our annual father/daughter day, delayed this year waiting for new grandaughter to get her 'shots', and of course grandma came too. Although much later than usual this year, we were able to pick what we came for - Blackcurrants, a berry that has seemed to go out of fashion, but millions of Ribena drinkers cannot be that wrong.
Having picked enough to make jam, jellies and pies, we headed towards the Raspberries, but never made it past the Blackberries - WOW! what a find, berries upto 4cms long with a big flavour. The daughter made a side trip to the Redcurrants, just a punnet full for cake decoration.
As I said we were a wee bit late in the year, and the Strawberries were finished - but what the heck, we got Blackcurrants and Blackberries, and there is always next year. By that time the grand-daughter will appreciate a good Strawberry.
One last thing - if you are late in the season - reward the farmer and his trust - be truthful when making payment into the 'Honesty Box' - we were.
