Tiree is the outermost of the Inner Hebrides, and its exposed location provides not only great windsurfing but also a mellow atmosphere. Wild Diamond Windsurfing was started by William MacLean (or 'Willy Angus' as he is known locally) in 1997 and there is a high standard of tuition (RYA level 5) and great selection of windsurfing equipment. Beginner lessons start from £60 for five hours with residential and taster courses available, but the school is equally well equipped to deliver advanced tuition for experienced windsurfers. Staff are enthusiastic and helpful and can create tailor-made group courses, and the excellent website offers a surf guide and useful travel advice.
