Tell us more about this place.

Microlight Scotland is west and central Scotland's only flexwing microlight flying school. It offers full-time instruction towards the National Private Pilot's Licence (Microlights) as well as a range of gift vouchers for Christmas and birthday gift flights. The flying school is based at Strathaven Airfield, a traditional three-runway grass airstrip less than an hour from Glasgow and Ayr.

The flying school operates seven days a week, from 9am until sunset, depending on the weather. It trains on Pegasus Quantum 912 weighshift microlights and as well as flying lessons and gift vouchers for trial flights it also has microlights for rent and shared-ownership syndicate schemes.

The Microlight Scotland flying school instructors are members of the British Microlight Aircraft Association and regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority. The flying school's Chief Instructor is Colin MacKinnon, who in 1997 was the first person to fly a weightshift microlight solo across the United States. The other full-time instructor is Graham McNally, who has been flying microlights and hang-gliders for more than 25 years.
