If your looking for a proper mans pub then I would recommend the Mercat hotel in Haddington. Was up on a work related visit and ended up in the Mercat on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the pints were first class. I would however advise against accepting any horse racing tips of the tall bar man named greig. The Kareoke was excellent with the latest multi-screen technology being applied.
Overall my experience was amazing with the night being topped of by a Kareoke version of the classic spandeu ballet song - Gold, by a guy called Herkee or Herky. Anyway the regulars told me he is Haddingtons answer to Susan Boyle.
