Malmaison

One of Edinburgh’s first boutique hotels, and still one of the most appealing, the 4-star Malmaison is situated at the end of a stretch of good seafood restaurants and bars on Leith’s waterfront. Overlooking the water, the impressive sandstone building (a former Seaman’s Mission built in 1833) houses 100 bedrooms, a health club, bar and restaurant. The brasserie can hold its own with strong local competition and with the tables spilling out onto the area in front of the hotel, it makes a great place to enjoy any sunshine.
