Tucked away from the frantic buzz of Buchanan Street on the top floor of Princes Square is this fabulous café that serves seriously good food. The French-inspired black and white chic interior is open, airy, yet cosy and comfortable. For lunch there are soups and sandwiches; hot plates such as the delicious Strathspey wild mushrooms generously scooped over a thick slice of rye and caraway toast; and open boards with substantial dips and breads. The Moroccan plate comes with a full spread including a particularly rich and creamy home-made babaganoush, hummus, pumpkin, and pearl tabbouleh with fresh pomegranate, served with soft flat bread and zesty orange, fennel and carrot salad. Go for the big afternoon tea experience or for a more modest coffee and cake – try the red velvet cake with deep notes of dark chocolate, perfectly contrasted by the light citrus tones of snow white icing. With passionate staff, Fifi and Ally provide the type of endorphin rush that only good-quality ingredients cooked by a happy chef can.
- High point: Rare treat of seriously good food
- Low point: There is only one Fifi and Ally

Fifi and AllyReport -
We decided to have the breakfast here as we came back from Spain to see the family over Christmas. Our usual haunts provide eggs benedict but alas they were not to be found on the fifi and ally menu. In fact, the disappointment didn't end there. When our full scottish breakfast arrived, the scrambled eggs (we weren't given a choice of fried) appeared to have came directly from the microwave...not a good start to a place that charges 19 pounds for two breakfast and two coffees. I then moved on to the potato scone which wasnt even cooked properly whereas the bacon was overdone...too crispy. The rest of the food was nothing to write home about (pardon the pun) either. I know it's only a breakfast and I shouldn't get so uppity about it, but that's the problem...it was only a breakfast...nothing flashy...surely it could have been cooked. I wouldn't like to try their 'complicated' dishes. Steer clear or better still pop next door and try 'Cranachan'......always a winner in my book.
