The lucky snag a snug and occupy it all evening, because Jinty's heaves every Friday and Saturday evening, punters spilling onto the cobbles of Ashton Lane. From Sundays to Thursdays there's live folk and Celtic flavoured traditional tunes and even the piped music is always, always Irish, from Clannad to the Cranberries, to Christy Moore bewailing the Delirium Tremens. Yet during the day, it's a dusty, dry, reflective old boozer, illustrious inebriates like James Joyce, Flann O'Brien and Brendan Behan proferring their wisdom from rich, enveloping dark walls.
