Kelvin Hotel
So successful was the 1975 restoration of Buckingham Terrace, home to the Kelvin Hotel, that the Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to the area to mark the occasion. There are no guarantees of royalty popping in to the Grade A listed building these days, but the family-run hotel’s location a stone’s throw from the Botanics makes for a crucial selling point. Its rooms are basic in their decoration -- but whatever they lack in style they more than make up for in being spacious, airy and reasonably priced.
