Park Lodge Hotel
The pretty entrance to the Park Lodge, all ivy-clad walls and Georgian columns, hide the real treats of this refined, family-run hotel. There’s a fine, if rather expensive, restaurant of unfussy French classics hinting at the Marquetty family’s roots on the Côte d’Azur, a big sun-trap of a back garden dotted with reclinable loungers, and the chance to sleep in a four-poster bed. The old-world décor of floral patterns and china may not be to all tastes, but the effect is more chateau than chintzy.
