The Scotch Malt Whisky Society Restaurant
The chance to steal into this legendary bar is reason enough to dine at the normally members-only New Town branch of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Hundreds of cask strength Society bottled malts await, the perfect aperitif before descending the grand Georgian staircase to the equally swish dining room. Head chef James Freeman has scoured Scotland, bringing in venison from Perthshire and Anstruther-landed halibut, with a creative and immaculately presented monthly changing menu that steers away from the obvious temptation to douse everything in whisky, though a four course £36.50 'whisky menu' is on hand for true malt devotees.
