The Square

The Square’s description of itself as an ‘All day, every day kind of place’ is rather modest. The spacious, understated venue avoids feeling soulless with tasteful design and light, tinkling jazz. The menu reveals an assortment of bistro influences such as scallops and rocket salad to start followed by red snapper and pineapple or lamb cutlets and parsnip mash. The desserts are equally tempting. An extensive wine list is a distinct strength with everything from house wine to high quality reds and even crystal champagne for celebrations and those sozzled by an earlier diet of 35 ml spirit measures.
