Beauly lies 15 miles west of Inverness and is home to a pocket of lovely, independent shops. Made in Scotland is on your left as you approach and showcases all that's contemporary in Scotland from ceramics and jewellery to bath products, textiles and food. Some pieces like the Orkney jewellery and rag effect scarves by Tait and Style are fairly pricey but you're paying for the craftsmanship. There's an extensive selection of boutique beers and the café serves good home-made fare including soups, sandwiches and quiches.
