Braithwaite’s is one of those odd little places that really add a lot to a city’s character. A coffee and tea merchants, it dates back to the middle of the nineteenth century, and it remains a thriving business to this day. Selling a massive range of coffees and teas as well as a whole host of drinking paraphernalia, Braithwaite’s also roast their beans daily on the premises according to an age-old family recipe. The tiny wood-panelled room is worth visiting, if only for the smell, but don’t be intimidated, they dish out expert advice for the novice coffee or tea drinker as well.
