Under the Hammer
Nowhere in Aberdeen are you are less likely to find a plasma screen or a trayful of Bacardi Breezers than in Under the Hammer. A mellow basement bar whose name refers to the auction rooms upstairs, it is frequented by a slightly older, sophisticated clientele who relish the relaxed atmosphere. There is no food, but the bar offers a satisfying selection of wine and at least three real ales on tap. Affordable art decorates the walls and changes every week. It’s a great spot for a civilised pre or post-theatre drink or just a conversation.
