Fruitmarket Gallery
Housed in what was once the Victorian fruit and vegetable market by Waverley station, this gallery is now one of the foremost exhibition spaces for contemporary art in Edinburgh. The space is light and bright, and features exhibitions from both emerging and established Scottish and international artists. The gallery also boasts a great café, and runs a series of talks, workshops and film screenings in parallel with exhibitions, all designed to encourage the public to get involved with contemporary visual art. If you are feeling inspired a full list of other smaller galleries in Edinburgh can be found at www.edinburgh-galleries.co.uk.
