The small and perfectly formed Heart Buchanan offers some of the poshest takeaway food around. Dishes are made fresh each day with local produce, and the menu changes just as regularly. For a light snack there is soup and focaccia, salads and pastas along with 'big substantial dishes' such as casseroles with roast potatoes with rosemary or char-grilled courgette with radicchio and pine nuts. Calorific desserts include Belgian chocolate pots, custard tarts, brownies and an unusual cake selection. There is also a small upstairs seating area in the deli if there's no space in the café next door. It seems to change hands on a regular basis since the days of Ms Buchanan, undergoing one in early 2012, but standards remain reassuringly high throughout each hand-over. An enduring delight.

2. scotsgal, glasgow – 5 April 2011, 11:11pmHeart BuchananReport: you should be glad they ran out - things have been going downhill here since the original owner sold up a year ago. the stale, stingy sarnies are just the start. you can wait 20mins just for toast and a sub-standard cup of coffee in the cafe area, and never seem to see the same staff member twice. portions are also tiny and over-priced, and i was sold quite clearly rancid olives in the deli one day in january... haven't been back since.

This is a bit maddening, could they not make some more when they run out? Or perhaps plan a bit better. I've now given up on them and go elsewhere for lunch
